Easter eggs are popular during Easter weekend because they are a symbol of a new life and are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb and resurrection. Some of the other Easter symbols are; Easter Bunny, Decorated Easter Eggs, Easter Lily, The Lamb, Spring Chicks & Easter Bonnet. 

During Easter families traditionally give out chocolate eggs for children. Some also play a game where children hunt for these chocolate eggs or any treats and sweets in their garden and put them in a small bag to eat later – this is called the Easter Egg Hunt! Some children believe that the Easter Bunny brings along chocolate eggs for them.

Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday and is a holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland only. 

A lot of people go away during Easter bank holiday weekend but there are lots of tourists who visit London during this long weekend. 

At Easter bank holiday weekend banks are closed and that’s why it’s called a bank holiday weekend. Universities and most private colleges are also closed and so all the government buildings and services. Although most shops are open the trading hours are usually reduced on Sunday & Monday.
