What are the new lockdown 2 rules for families and nannies?

What is allowed under England’s new lockdown rules for families and nannies?

New national restrictions are in place from today, 5th of November to 2nd of December 2020, and according to government’s website nannies can continue to work:

“Nannies will be able to continue to provide services, including in the home.”

The vital message to help stop the spread of the virus is the same:

  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds.

  • Wear a face covering in public indoor places.

  • Stay 2 meters apart with people you don’t live with.

Under the new lockdown rules people should stay at home except specific purposes such as; essential activities, education and childcare and work.

Childcare

Early years settings and childminders remain open. Nannies will be able to continue to provide services, including in the home. Parents are able to form a childcare bubble with one other household for the purposes of informal childcare, where the child is 13 years or under.

Education

Early years settings, schools, colleges, universities and vocational training centres will not be closing. The Government has been clear that exams will go ahead next summer, as they are the fairest and most accurate way to measure a pupil’s attainment. Extra-curricular activities, for instance dance or music lessons, should not take place.

Meeting family and friends

Adults are allowed to meet in outdoor spaces with people they live with or with one other person from a different household, under ‘one plus one’ rule.

Single adult households who have support bubble with another household may meet indoors.

support bubble is where a household with one adult joins with another household.

Households in that support bubble can still visit each other, stay overnight in each other’s households, and visit outdoor public places together, but other friends and family members cannot meet socially outdoors and visit one another inside homes.

Exercise

You can go outside to exercise as often and for as long as you like and meet with one other person to do so. There does not seem to be any specific restrictions on travelling to exercise, meaning you could drive to a park.

Gyms, swimming pools and other leisure centres and sport facilities will be closed.
