How to find a nanny during Covid-19 lockdown?

Some parents are self-employed, trying to keep their businesses going, or working as essential employees and saving lives while their little ones have nowhere to go.

In fact with lockdown measures being slowly lifted also those parents who cannot work from home will be making arrangements to go back to work and look for a childcare.

Some schools, nurseries and childminders will be welcoming children back from 1st of June in a phased approach.

However some parents might prefer to keep their children at home and continue with home schooling. This is because the scientists are saying that it is still not safe for school and childcare settings to open more widely on June 1.

Therefore some parent may have a very few childcare alternatives and hiring a nanny may be a comfortable solution at the moment.

Government guidance for nannies during Covid-19 is that they are able to continue to work and help parents. This is because work as a nanny “can only be done in the workplace”.

There are many advantages of having a nanny over other childcare options. One of them is that unlike in a nursery setting with many unique individuals in a group and one teacher to oversee them all, having a nanny will give your children the constant attention they require.

At Elisa’s London Nannies we are going that extra mile for our clients during Covid-19 and source local nannies who can avoid public transport and ideally walk, cycle or drive to work.

There is also another option that parents pick-up and drop-off a nanny in case they are driving, or even give her access to the second car (if they have one) during this period.

Types of childcare we can offer are: nannies, mother’s helpers, nannies/housekeepers and au pairs.

We only vet the highest quality candidates with minimum of two years of professional experience, enhanced DBS and many have childcare qualifications including teaching qualifications and are committed and carefully matched to individual needs of each family.

On top of this, our nannies are checking their temperatures regularly and make sure they are healthy and have Pediatric first aid certificates that are renewed regularly, so they know how to react in an emergency situation.

We can also recommend online resources to use at home with the children about Covid-19 to help them understand the current situation, importance of hands washing, social distancing and staying home.
